BCCI rubbishes reports mentioning that Virat Kohli called himself the ‘Best Player in the World’

During India vs Australia second Test match at Perth Stadium, Australia Captain Tim Paine and India Captain Virat Kohli were involved in some heated argument. The two Captains during the match were continuously involved in banter. At one time, they almost made physical contact.

Australia reports claimed that Indian Skipper Virat Kohli had told Australian captain Tim Paine that he’s the best player in the world and Paine is just a stand-in skipper. But BCCI took stand for the Captain Virat Kohli and got clarification from the team management about the incident.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India have released a statement saying that these claims were based on hearsay and the reports as baseless. BCCI rubbished the reports and said that no such words were spoken on the field by the Indian captain.

Team India lost the second test at Perth by 146 runs and Australia leveled up the series. Now the third test is scheduled for December 26 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Both the captains said that no one crossed during the on-field banter between them.

Virat Kohli said, “As long as there is no swearing on the field, and there's no personal attacks, the line doesn't get crossed. That's it!. But look, in competitive spirit it stays on the field. I am not going to go into details but to be honest it's not of importance for me to speak on and it's something that's done,".

Tim Paine said, “I don’t think we did touch to be honest. It got pretty close. It was a highly competitive Test match from both teams. There’s a lot on the line and both teams desperately want to win and sometimes that stuff happens”.

He further said that he loved it and he enjoyed watching Kohli like always. Paine thinks that Kohli brings out the competitive spirit in a lot of people which is great and he is sure it was great to watch.
