Here is what ICC CEO David Richardson thinks about India’s chances of winning the World Cup 2019

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 which will be the 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be hosted by England and Wales from 30 May to 14 July 2019. The 10 teams will participate in the 50-over tournament that will be played in the round-robin format.

South African former cricketer and current ICC CEO David Richardson chooses South Africa national cricket team as the favorites to win the 2019 cricket World Cup.

He said that South Africa must be his favorites but if he is asked that who can win it then it is anybody's game. He told that if England does not win at home which is the No.1 team in the world right now then they'll never win it.

David Richardson laughs off when he was reminded by the reporter that the interview is happening in India's capital and said, "India is always there, I think they've been in the semifinals of almost every event over the last few years. You would be silly not to bet or you would be silly to bet against them,".

David Richardson said that the bottom line is that they wanted competitive cricket and one-sided games are not good. He told that people enjoy this format and it gives them a chance of providing this type of cricket.

Richardson said that normally in England, they are guaranteed home support for all the teams as the cultural mix-up of cricket fans in the UK is very diverse. He said, “Noisy crowds, good pitches, and equally balanced teams should make it a great event,".

The most popular and interesting match of the World Cup 2019 is the India vs Pakistan match that is scheduled for June 16 in Manchester. The build-up for this match has already begun.

The ICC CEO David Richardson said that the demands for tickets for the 2019 World Cup have been extraordinary. There are just two or three games where one can still buy tickets. Tickets for 44 out of 48 matches have been sold out.

The ICC CEO said, "India against Pakistan is always big but the beauty about this tournament is that we will witness many more rivalries like Australia Vs England or South Africa playing against any big opponent like India, England or Australia. Even the likes of Afghanistan will be looking to cause as many upsets as they can.”
