Know about the ICC Awards for 2018

The ICC Awards honors some of the greatest players in men's and women's international cricket. The award is voted by an academy which is specially appointed for it. The academy consists of former players, important members of the media and match officials.

For the year 2018, ICC has announced the women's awards on 31st December 2018 while it has announced the men's awards on 22nd January 2019. Here are the cricketers who are awarded by ICC.

Indian National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli won three biggest honors in ICC Awards for 2018 and thereby became the first cricketer to achieve the feat. He was awarded the following awards: Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for ICC Cricketer of the Year, ICC Men’s Test Player of the Year and ICC ODI Player of the Year.

Other than this, Virat Kohli has also been selected as captain of both ICC Test Team and the ODI Team of 2018. Another Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was awarded as ICC Emerging Player of the Year.

The other ICC awards for 2018 awarded are: Scotland’s Calum MacLeod received ICC Associate Player of the Year. Australia’s Aaron Finch received T20I Performance of the Year award for his knock of 172 against Zimbabwe National Cricket Team in Harare.

New Zealand National Cricket Team current captain Kane Williamson received ICC Spirit of Cricket award and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Dharmasena received Umpire of the Year award. Other than awards, ICC Test Team and ICC ODI Team of 2018 is as follows:

ICC Test Team of 2018 includes New Zealand’s Tom Latham, Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, India’s Virat Kohli (Captain), New Zealand’s Henry Nicholls, India’s Rishabh Pant (Wicket-keeper), Windies’s Jason Holder, South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada, Australia’s Nathan Lyon, India’s Jasprit Bumrah, and Pakistan’s Mohammad Abbas.

ICC ODI Team of 2018 includes India’s Rohit Sharma, England’s Jonny Bairstow, India’s Virat Kohli (Captain), England’s Joe Root, New Zealand’s Ross Taylor, England’s Jos Buttler (Wicket-keeper), England’s Ben Stokes, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman, Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, India’s Kuldeep Yadav, and India’s Jasprit Bumrah.

Final ODI will be the decider of ODI Series Winner between South Africa and Pakistan
