The reason behind Chennai Super Kings victory in the IPL 2018

Indian Premier League is one of the cash-rich league in the world. The two most successful IPL franchises are Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, both the franchises have clinched the IPL title for three times each.

The upcoming IPL will be the twelfth season of the biggest T20 tournament of the world. Out of the past eleven seasons, Chennai Super Kings played only nine seasons while Mumbai Indians have played all the seasons.

Chennai Super Kings along with Rajasthan Royals were suspended for two years by the Justice Lodha committee appointed by Supreme Court. The team’s were suspended from IPL because of involvement of their franchise owners in 2013 spot-fixing and betting scandal.

The supreme court appointed Justice Lodha committee also banned the former team official of CSK Gurunath Meiyappan and former co-owner of Rajasthan Royals Raj Kundra for life.

Both the teams did not play IPL 2016 and 2017 tournaments. CSK and RR returned to the competition in 2018 and CSK clinched its third IPL title in their comeback season defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Recently, Former BCCI’s president N Srinivasan has said that Chennai Super Kings victory in the 2018 IPL season was a result of the “simmering anger” among the team players for the team’s two-year suspension.

The owner of CSK is India Cements which is a company owned by Srinivasan. He said that the team players were not at fault for the scandal that occurred in 2013. He said that no player made a mistake.

He further said, “It was an attack on the superior performance of the team. Jealousy, maybe. The team did not deserve the punishment they got. The simmering anger among the players for being treated like this is what brought about the victory. They were determined to prove again ‘we are the best’.”

Moreover, IPL 2019 will begin from March 23 in India. The teams are getting ready to win the upcoming tournament.
