Will Sri Lanka ever be able to win the ICC Cricket World Cup?

Sri Lanka National Cricket Team recently had lost the entire tour against New Zealand. The tour consisted of three One Day Internationals, Two Tests and One and only Twenty20 International.

The tour which began on December 8 with a practice match ended on January 11. New Zealand National Cricket Team won all the Test, ODI T20 matches against Sri Lanka except the first test that ended in a draw.

Now as ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is approaching, the preparation of Sri Lanka cricket team does not seems to be strong. Also, Sri Lanka did not win a single World Cup tournament yet.

The Sri Lanka national cricket team appeared in finals consecutively for two times but unfortunately lost both the final matches. In the World Cup 2007, Sri Lanka lost the final match against the five-time champions Australia National Cricket Team in Bridgetown.

Then again, in the World Cup 2011, Sri Lanka lost the final match against the two-time champions Indian National Cricket Team in Mumbai. Now, the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 will be held from 30 May to 14 July 2019 and will be hosted by England and Wales.

The schedule for the 2019 Cricket World Cup is already out. It will be interesting to see if two-time runner-ups Sri Lanka able to win the World Cup trophy for the first time ever or not. Sri Lanka will play its first World Cup match against New Zealand on June 1 in Cardiff.

At the same venue on June 4, Sri Lanka will play against Afghanistan. Similarly, before the 2019 World Cup finals, Sri Lanka has to face all the other teams. The final match will be at the Lord’s in London on 14 July 2019.
